The Sydney Roosters NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup sides battled it out with Parramatta at Wentworth Park, with both sides claiming victory on Sunday afternoon.

NSW Cup | Savala Stars in Close Shave for Cup

Sydney Roosters 24 def Parramatta Eels 20

It was a close shave for the Sydney Roosters' NSW Cup side on Sunday afternoon, with a late save solidifying a hard-earned 24-20 victory over the Parramatta Eels at Wentworth Park.

Hugo Savala had an impressive outing, scoring 16 points from two tries and four goals, while setting what was ultimately the match-winning try in the 72nd minute.

The hulking halfback showed plenty of deception to score the first try of the match, faking a kick before splitting the defence open to touch down.

Parramatta hit back twice in succession as momentum shifted, however, an 80-metre dash from fullback Callum Gromek saw the Roosters level, before Savala put the side in front just minutes before half-time.

The Tricolours were staring down the face of another defeat after their opponents once again regained the lead after scoring two quickfire tries, but Savala came up with the match-winning play, with a dummy and go putting hooker Benaiah Ioelu over.

Parramatta looked to hit back late, but a late save from Gromek on hulking Eels winger Maika Sivo saved the day for the Red, White and Blue in their second win for the season.

The Sydney Roosters NSW Cup side will face the St George Illawarra Dragons at Collegians Sporting Complex in Wollongong on Saturday afternoon.

Jersey Flegg Cup | Roosters Prevail in High-Scoring Contest

Sydney Roosters 36 def Parramatta Eels 24

The Sydney Roosters' Jersey Flegg side came back from a half-time deficit to power through to a solid 36-24 victory over the Parramatta Eels on Sunday afternoon at Wentworth Park.

Centre Xavier Chatfield-Mooka got the Red, White and Blue on the board early, scoring after just two minutes, while fill-in winger Benjamin Taylor bagged a quickfire double just moments later for a handy 12-nil lead after nearly as many minutes.

Midway through the first half, however, Parramatta responded with three tries of their own, with goal-kicking the only difference as the visitors took an 18-12 lead after a fast and furious first stanza.

Parramatta extended soon after the break, but a late charge from the Roosters saw four individual try-scorers touch down in a 20-minute blitz, with Levi Conti (47th minute), Watisoni Waqanisaravi (52nd), Iobe Taukeisalili (58th) and Josh Durkin (66th) sealing the victory, with the final scoreline reading 36-24 to Easts.

The Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg Cup side will also play the St George Illawarra Dragons on Saturday at Collegians Sporting Complex in Wollongong.
