Pathways Results Round 2

Despite a number of matches being cancelled through the weekend for the Sydney Roosters Pathways sides due to weather, there was a highlight as the North Sydney Bears recorded their first win of the season.

North Sydney Bears Knock On Effect NSW Cup

The North Sydney Bears bounced back into form with a gutsy 24-16 victory over the Western Suburbs Magpies following the NRL match at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, with a number of Roosters impressing in the win.

Despite the home side crashing over early through dummy-half, the Bears hit back in quick succession, firstly as Matt Ikuvalu touched down after soaring to collect a cross-field kick before backrower Harrison Edwards burst through a gap to score.

The sides continued to trade blows as the Magpies struck again to take the lead, but the Bears were back at it again through another barnstorming run, this time by Ben Thomas, with a penalty goal finding Norths with an 18-12 half-time lead.

Young front rower Tuku Hau Tapuha burst through to score a try of his own, and while the Magpies mounted a late comeback, the Bears took home the competition points for their first victory of 2021.

Bears v Magpies Highlights NSW Cup Round 2

Central Coast Roosters Harvey Norman Women's Premiership and Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg

Unfortunately, both the Central Coast Roosters and Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg matches were washed out due to wet weather.

With no free rounds during the season, the Central Coast Roosters match against the Helensburgh Tigers was cancelled, while the Jersey Flegg fixture against the Wests Tigers has been postponed, with a new date yet to be decided.

This Saturday the Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg side take on South Sydney at Redfern Oval at 2:15pm, while the Central Coast Roosters will host the Wentworthville Magpies at 1:00pm at Morry Breen Oval on Sunday.
