Sydney Roosters Skippers Sweep at Brad Fittler Medal Awards Night

Sydney Roosters Captains James Tedesco and Isabelle Kelly have swept up numerous awards at the 2022 Brad Fittler Medal awards night.

Tedesco became the first player in NSWRL history to claim all three major State of Origin awards while taking home his third Brad Fittler Medal as the Blues' Player of the Series.

The Roosters and Blues skipper also claimed the True Blue Award (selected by coaching staff) as well as The Daily Telegraph People’s Choice Award.

Off the back of her incredible performance in the 2022 Women's State of Origin Game - which saw her score the match-winning try - NRLW Captain Isabelle Kelly was awarded for her sterling performance as she claimed the Player of the Year.

Tedesco averaged 281 metres per game in the 2022 Origin Series, which saw him make a further 25 tackle breaks and two line breaks in his second series as Captain.

“It’s always an honour to pull on the sky blue jumper and it’s a humbling experience to have won the Brad Fittler Medal following a vote from my teammates,” Tedesco said.

“It also means a lot to me to collect the True Blue Award and The Daily Telegraph People’s Choice Award as I always try to lead by example and give my best any time I take the field.

“I love playing for NSW and I’m confident with so many good players around me that we will always enjoy our fair share of success.”

Meanwhile, Kelly - who ran 190 metres and made thirteen tackle breaks in the 20-14 win over Queensland - became the first Sky Blues player to claim the Player of the Year Medal two years running.

“I love playing for the Sky Blues and it was great to see all the girls come together this season and wrestle the Shield away from Queensland,” Kelly said.

“Women’s Rugby League is growing stronger and stronger every season, it’s wonderful to be part of it and I look forward to even further growth into the future.”

The Sydney Roosters would like to congratulate both James Tedesco and Isabelle Kelly for their achievements.
